Accusations of betrayal and 'having one foot in each camp' has led to one Elmbridge MP standing his ground.

MP for Esher and Walton Ian Taylor has disbanded claims of back stabbing by the Hampton Court Rescue Campaign when he wrote to the Secretary of State Hazel Blears in favour of not calling in the Jolly Boatman application for a public enquiry.

river3.jpgMolesey Local History Society is hunting for information about a river which once flowed through East Molesey after learning of its existence from a 17th century sketch.

The waterways section of the society has been inspired to find the remains of the River Caundle after spotting a line drawing in a booklet published by Esher History Society.

Face painting and fancy dress are all part of the fun envisaged at late night shopping event Magical Molesey.

On December 1, the night, organised by the Walton Road Traders Association and Molesey Residents Association, will begin at 5pm where Walton Road shops will stay open until late.

The event will also include quizzes, competitions, and carol singing.

Music in the pub

A number of music events are being put on by The Monster Raving Loony Party.

The organisation have a number of events in October and November at their base in the Poynts Arms, Walton Road, East Molesey, including former a Cat Stevens writer.

Alun Davis and Steve Simpson will appear with Good men in the Jungle on October 24, and on October another musician TIm Hain will play a blend of reggae and blues.

Boys and girls from the 1st Molesey Sea Scout Group passed their Royal Naval inspection on October 10.

Lt Commander Griffiths was served a three course meal by four sea scout members, and then taken to the river where he watched them sail and kayak.

A scout group desperately trying to repair their dilapidated hut got a £5000 cash injection last week.

The 3rd Molesey Scout Group have been trying to raise £30,000 over the past two years to repair their scout hut roof, which leaks every time it rains.

On Thursday Septmeber 25 the group got given £5000 by government group Grassroots Grants which takes their total up to over £27,000.

hershaminbloom.jpgBlue Peter gardener Chris Collins presented the prizes as Elmbridge won awards in this year's South and South East in Bloom competition.

Churchfields Recreation Ground in Weybridge and Hurst Park/Hurst Meadows in East Molesey beat more than 200 entrants to win gold in the best park category.

The Elmbridge branch of the University of the Third Age held the first of a number of Autumn lectures on September 3.

The 'History and Magic of Playing Cards' was the first lecture held at Mole Hall, West Molesey, about the history of card playing from China to the present day.

tesco-molesey-20.jpgA residents group has called off its threat to blockade the Hurst Road Tesco in a protest at delivery lorries posing a road hazard.

Members of Hurst Park Residents' Association (HPRA) threatened to block Victoria Avenue, West Molesey, with their cars to stop supply lorries getting down the street and accessing the Hurst Park Tesco store.

flowershow.jpgEsher Molesey Garden Society held its 91st annual Flower Show on Saturday August 16 at St Nicholas Church Hall, Thames Ditton.

There were about 270 entries which the organisers described as "excellent considering the very changeable weather". These covered a full range garden produce and a home baking and preserves section.
